An Open Letter to Professor David Harvey

“Stand By the Oppressed & Say “No” to the Oppressors”

Download as PDF Dear professor Harvey, We are a number of socialist political and social activists, writing to share with you our concerns regarding your scheduled speech in Iran and urge you to cancel it. You have been invited to give a talk at the “Women & Urban Life Conference” from December 11th through December 12th in one of the most neoliberalized cities of the world, namely Tehran, in which public spaces are highly controlled by the state and widely privatized over the recent decade. The conference is organized not by a university or an academic association, or even a non-governmental or people-based organization, but rather by the Tehran Municipality and will be held at the International Center for Conferences in the Tehran Milad Tower, which is one of the ادامه‌ مطلب …

In Solidarity with the resistance of the people of Cizre and North-Kurdistan

Download as PDF “The corpus of the truths" has gathered us again in another corner of this world of exile. Same as the corpses lying silently under the ground, still voicing out a sharp and clear truth. A truth without borders, which has spread its omens over entire regions of cruel land; From blood-red Khavaran to Kobane and to glorious Cizre. While we held the "The Sixth Seminar about the Massacre of Political Prisoners in Iran in the 1980´s", the blood of the Middle East was still running fresh in its streets and alleys. There are still women and men which, steps by step, in search of truth, are fighting for utopian ideas, the same ideas which authorities and sovereign regimes had thought they have suppressed to death forever. Yesterday ادامه‌ مطلب …

We will turn Shahrokh Zamani’s death into the banner of workers solidarity and unity

Download as PDF [A statement from workers committees in Iran] Shahrokh Zamani, the brave and tireless fighter of the Iranian workers movement has died in Gohar Dasht prison. The news was received with total disbelief and utter shock for all. In our view, whatever reasons the authorities may offer, the responsibility for his death lies completely with those have imposed conditions of slavery on the workers of Iran and have taken away their rights to organise and struggle for a better life and on those who throw honourable and valiant human beings such as Shahrokh Zamani into dungeons. The shocking news of his death in jail, without any prior history of illness, is not the first news of a loss of life by a prisoner, and given the current conditions ادامه‌ مطلب …

Class Nature of the Iranian Regime | Torab Saleth

Class Nature of the Iranian Regime1 Torab Saleth, Critique: Journal of Socialist Theory, Volume 35, Issue 3, 2007 Download PDF version The current Iranian regime which has been in power in the Islamic Republic of Iran since the 1979 revolution against the Shah, continues to confuse many observers as to its true nature. The intrinsic confusion lies precisely in the fact that it is indeed a post-revolutionary regime. The usual common sense of the “stagists”, from which we suffer a great deal within the anti-imperialist left, leads them to make the great discovery that anything post Shah must be a step in the right direction. This is as if there is no going back in human history. It is as if we have not seen, time and time again, that ادامه‌ مطلب …

URGENT CALL FOR ACTION: Global Rally against ISIS – for Kobanê – for Humanity!

Praxis: Republishing the following statment is along with our committment to the struggles of people in Kobane. Kobani, Another World | A Declaration of 209 Social Activists of Tabriz in Support of Kobani Resistance

Kobani, another World A Declaration of 209 Social Activists of Tabriz in Support of Kobani Resistance   The ISIS’s craving to massacre has besieged the small town of Kobani. World powers, the global masters are speechless, and the absurd melody of human rights is suffocated in this corner of the world. The allied forces, so-called harbingers of bliss and democracy to the people here, are the mere watchers of ISIS onslaught and its brutality. Never will we forget how these allied forces, in the apparels of NATO and led by USA and Britain, wiped out the Iraqi Government and its complicated political and security machine in less than ten days a decade ago. How on earth are these Allies unable to annihilate the ISIS? In the name of war ادامه‌ مطلب …

Letter Writing ‘Movement’ and Crisis of Collective Subjectivity | Amin Hosuri

Download PDF version December 24, 2011 1) In a society in which the collective struggle for change – for any number of reasons – is on the wane, conditions are created for hero-worship. Heroes are those who, in their own way and with a particular approach, express and reflect a part of the people's grievances and demands. Lack of social movements and lack of the processes of collective dissent creates a situation, in which, faced with the significance of reflecting and expressing (a part of) the collective grievances, it is not noticed how this 'incidental representation' came about or what its effective content is. People, who consider themselves powerless in the face of the ruling system, see their own un-actualized subjectivity realized in the existence and the acts of a ادامه‌ مطلب …

On the position of ”asylum-seekers” and asylum-seekers’ struggles in modern societies

Download PDF version Introduction During the last 11 months we have witnessed a strong wave of refugees and asylum-seekers' protests across Germany. These protests are still ongoing and have accomplished considerable achievements up to now. The movement has used a new method of organizing, namely organizing from below. This approach, has hardly any precedent in the socio-political sphere of Germany in the past 2-3 decades and could reach out beyond the walls separating asylum seekers and society, thereby considerably impacting the public and activist groups. The new wave of refugee protests has faced many challenges and notwithstanding its important achievements, has made some mistakes and in some instances has deviated from its goal. Through a critical assessment of the path taken, the movement can go beyond its current limitations and ادامه‌ مطلب …
